Indications
Zinc supplement for treatment and prevention of zinc deficiency states. (e.g. Excessive, prolonged diarrhoea)
Dosage
Zinc deficiency: Infants & Children: 1.35-2.70 mg zinc sulphate mono-hydrate/kg/day (0.5-1 mg elemental zinc/kg/day) divided in 1-3 times daily. Larger doses may be required if impaired intestinal absorption or an excessive loss of zinc (e.g. Excessive, prolonged diarrhoea). Adults: 70-140 mg zinc sulphate mono-hydrate/ dose (25-50 mg elemental zinc/dose) three times daily
Advice to Patient
Take at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after meals. Do not take zinc within 2 hours of iron or copper supplements or phosphorus-containing medications. Do not swallow or chew lozenges, let it dissolve in mouth slowly and completely. Do not take lozenges more than prescribed amount.
