Dimis® (Diclofenac Sodium/Misoprostol) is a combination product
containing diclofenac sodium, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) with
analgesic properties, and misoprostol, a gastrointestinal (GI) mucosal protective
prostaglandin E1 analog. Dimis® tablets consist of an enteric-coated core containing
Diclofenac Sodium surrounded by an outer mantle containing Misoprostol. Its chemical
formula and name are:
Diclofenac Sodium (C14H10Cl2NO2Na) [M.W. = 318.14] 2-[(2,6- dichlorophenyl)
amino] benzeneacetic acid, monosodium salt. Misoprostol (C22H38O5) [M.W. =
382.54] (±) methyl 11α,16-dihydroxy-16-methyl-9- oxoprost-13E-en-1-oate.

Indications

Dimis 75mg Tablets  is primarily indicated in conditions like Acute exacerbation of pain and post operative pain, Acute gout, Ankylosing spondylitis, Bursitis, Gastro-oesophageal reflux disease, Juvenile chronic arthritis, Low back pain, Musculoskeletal disorders, Osteoarthritis, Peptic ulcer, Periarthritis, Pernicious anaemia and other macrocytic anaemias, Postoperative pain, Prevention of postoperative pain, Rheumatoid arthritis, Sprains, Strains, Tendinitis, Tenosynovitis, Tobacco amblyopia and leber’s optic atrophy, Ureteric colic.

Contraindication

Dimis 75mg Tablets  is contraindicated in conditions like Asthma,Peptic ulcer, Hypersensitivity,GI bleeding, Renal impairment, Hemorrhagic diathesis.

Side Effects

The severe or irreversible adverse effects of Dimis 75mg Tablets , which give rise to further complications include Anaphylactoid reactions, Nephrotic syndrome, Blood dyscrasias, Peptic ulceration, Bleeding, Lower gut disorders, Papillary necrosis.Dimis 75mg Tablets  produces potentially life-threatening effects which include Blood dyscrasias, perforation of peptic ulcer, Anaphylaxis, GI hemorrhage. which are responsible for the discontinuation of Dimis 75mg Tablets  therapy. The signs and symptoms that are produced after the acute overdosage of Dimis 75mg Tablets  include Nausea, Vomiting, Melena, Jaundice, Unconsciousness, Dizziness, Headache, Hepatopathy, Oliguria or anuria, Myoclonic encephalopathy, Gl hemorrhage, Somnolence, Upper abdominal pain, Hiccup.The symptomatic adverse reactions produced by Dimis 75mg Tablets  are more or less tolerable and if they become severe, they can be treated symptomatically, these include Flatulence, Dizziness, Vertigo, Tiredness, Headache, Drowsiness, Irritability, Nausea, Vomiting, Anorexia, Diarrhea, Anxiety, Tremors, Abdominal cramps, Constipation, Insomnia, Rashes, Pain, Itching, Burning, Dyspepsia, Depression, Nightmares, Epigastric pain, Taste disturbances, Eye irritation, Paresthesias, Vision disturbances, Hearing disturbances, ulceration of conjuctiva and cornea,.

Warnings

Dimis 75mg Tablets  should be used with caution in patients with intrinsic coagulation defects and those on anticoagulant therapy. It should be used with caution in patients with compromised cardiac function, hypertension and other conditions predisposing to fluid retention. It should be used with extra care in the presence of existing uncontrolled infection. Perform periodic au.
