Dexxoo 60mg Capsules

Indications

Short term (4 weeks) treatment of heart burn associative with non-erosive GERD, short term (up to 8 weeks) treatment of all grades of erosive Dexxoo 60mg Capsules; to maintain healing of erosive Dexxoo 60mg Capsules and relief of heart burn for up to 6 months.

Dosage

Adults: Erosive Dexxoo 60mg Capsules (EE): Short term treatment: 60 mg once daily for up to 8 wk. Maintenance of healed EE and symptomatic relief of heartburn: 30 mg once daily up to 6 mth. Symptomatic GERD: Short term treatment: 30 mg once daily for up to 6 mth. Children: Not recommended.

Advice to patient

Take with or without meals. Do not chew or swallow whole. If there is difficulty in swallowing, open the capsule and mix all contents in a tablespoon of applesauce. Swallow immediately without chewing. Granules may also be dispersed in 20 mL of water. The dispersion may be taken via an oral syringe or a nasogastric tube.

Interactions

Diuretics (e.g. furosemide, hydrochlorothiazide) because the risk of low blood magnesium levels may be increased. Anticoagulants (e.g. warfarin), digoxin, methotrexate, saquinavir, or tacrolimus because the risk of their side effects may be increased by dexlansoprazole delayed-release capsules. Ampicillin, atazanavir, bosutinib, clopidogrel, dasatinib, erlotinib, indinavir, iron, itraconazole, ketoconazole, mycophenolate, nelfinavir, nilotinib, posaconazole, rilpivirine, or sorafenib because their effectiveness may be decreased by dexlansoprazole delayed-release capsules.

Adverse effects

Nausea, vomiting, rash, hives, itching, difficulty breathing or swallowing. Irregular, fast, or pounding heartbeat, excessive tiredness, dizziness, lightheadedness, muscle spasms, uncontrollable shaking of a part of the body, seizures, severe diarrhoea with watery stools, stomach pain and fever.
