Description
Indications
Britanyl is primarily indicated in conditions like Asthma, Bronchitis, Emphysema, Obstructive airway disease, Oedema, Oliguria due to renal failure, Premature labour, Uncomplicated premature labor, and can also be given in adjunctive therapy as an alternative drug of choice in Acute leukemia, Lymphomas.
Contraindication
Britanyl is contraindicated in conditions like Thyrotoxicosis, ischaemic heart disease, Haemorrhage, Taxaemia.
Side Effects
The severe or irreversible adverse effects of Britanyl, which give rise to further complications include Ventricular tachycardia. Britanyl produces potentially life-threatening effects which include Pulmonary edema, which are responsible for the discontinuation of Britanyl therapy. The signs and symptoms that are produced after the acute overdosage of Britanyl include Tachycardia, Cardiac arrhythmias, Hypokalemia, Hyperglycemia. The symptomatic adverse reactions produced by Britanyl are more or less tolerable and if they become severe, they can be treated symptomatically, these include Headache, Anxiety, Palpitation, Tremors, Muscle cramps.
Warnings
Avoid intraneural or intravascular injection of Britanyl.
